Switching from one model to another can take tens of seconds, presumably because of canvas related reflow issues. It would be significantly better for the user if this could be faster.

This doesn't seem to be too bad anymore with current CVS Mozilla, at least on Win32.

It seems this was just due to complex models. We probably could optimise more, but I don't think it is a high priority. Deferred until next version.
